My company just licensed SAS Forecast Studio and I was given this book to get up to speed on what we'd be tackling in the project. It provides a wonderful overview of the forecasting process for massive amounts of data / forecasts and is very well written. It's written on a practitioner level; not a statistician or programmer level, so pretty much anybody should be able to follow the explanations. It would be especially relevant to someone who is in a managerial role, overseeing analysts, but not doing the day to day work themselves. After teaching at the university level for over 25 years, I judge a book by whether you could teach yourself from it, and this one earns top ratings.
This is a great read for anyone involved with demand management. If you are already familiar with business forecasting, it will serve as a reminder of concepts, applications and will likely deepen your existing skill set. If you are not familiar with business forecasting, consider this a high-yield introduction. The book will take you through a comprehensive framework-and you won't need an advanced degree in statistics! The ideas are applicable in many industries and also covers issues relative to your location in the supply chain (retail, distribution, manufacturing, etc.).BY:ebook777.com
