Developing Management Skills (8th Edition)

I have been a manager for 7 years running teams of up to 14 direct reports. This is a phenomenal book. I am buying copies for all my team leaders. The self test at the beginning of the book and each chapter allows the individual to see how they compare with hundreds of other people. This is a huge help in identifying a person's stengths and weaknesses. I have read many leadership books but this is really a tremendous training tool an...

None of Us is As Good As All of Us

McDonald's statistics tell the story of its impressive business achievements. The company serves 58 million customers daily at 32,000 restaurants in 118 nations. It employs 1.6 million people, and had 2008 sales of more than $70 billion. That's a lot of "secret sauce." Through its vaunted Hamburger University, which opened in 1956 in an Illinois restaurant basement, McDonald's teaches store managers, owners and operators how to do th...

The Green Marketing Manifesto

This book is very readable, yet also manages to explain some really important cultural forces of the 21st century in a lot of depth. I particularly liked his explanation of the significance of web 2.0 (and what he calls New Marketing) and how it applies to sustainability issues, but there are lots of other things to recommend it too. The format was clear and logical, and there were quite a few interesting examples to make his points ...

The Invention of Market Freedom

"This extraordinary, wide-ranging book builds on the republican turn in political theory to explain and contextualize the rise of the liberal, market-oriented account of freedom. MacGilvray deftly traces out the complex relationships among virtue, liberty, and status in early modern republican thought; and he shows that republican thought evolved in divergent directions in the face of modern commerce. The intellectual history of civi...

This is one of the best Cook book for implementing a broad swaths of models in financial engineering. The best part of the book is its holistic nature as you are given a brief description of models and how to implement it. The bibilogrphy given at the end is one of the best part of the book as authors have given only references which are essential and good. Fundamentals of Futures and Options Markets, 8th edition, Global edition

This book does a great job at clearly teaching the basics of forwards/futures and options markets. While there are a handful of summary questions at the end of each chapter that have answers in the back of the book, the overwhelming majority of answers to the end of chapter practice problems are not. In order to use this book properly and get the most out of it, the study guide is a necessity. Other than that, it's a great textbook.
