We always buy this version of the Old Farmer's Almanac each year. Part of that reason is that my dad who was a farmer, and my older brother is is a farmer, always bought one when the New Year started. I don't farm, but I do like reading the articles in these almanacs. I also like knowing the weather forecast for my region. The amazing thing is that the long-range forecast for the year is never wrong! If the Farmer's Almanac says you're in for a wet summer, then batten down the hatches. That's what it said for last year, but I had no idea Hurricane Harvey would dump 3 trillion cubic feet of water on my part of Texas. Another thing that I've come to depend on are the charts based on the phases of the moon that say "the best day for..." Those days are for everything from planting various crops, shrubs, or trees to cutting your hair so it will grow slower or cutting it to grow faster. If you don't think it's realistic, try it. You'll be shocked.
